Grouping lets you combine several rows of a column into one cell. It is switched on per column in the register template (by the System Admin). There are two kinds:
Number columns → the grouped cell shows a calculated result (Total, Average or Standard Deviation) taken from another number column.
Text / Multiline / Date / Time / Options / Checkbox columns → the grouped cell holds one shared value (no calculation).
This article covers turning grouping on in the template. For using it while filling, see 2.4.7.
Open the settings for a Numeric column.
Turn on Allow Group.
Choose the Source Column (what the value is calculated from) and the Operation — Total, Average or Standard Deviation.
Save the template.
Open the settings for the column.
Turn on Allow Group (no other settings needed).
Save the template.
Who sets up grouping? It's enabled per column in the register template by the System Admin, using the Allow Group toggle.
What's the difference between grouping a number column and a text/date column? A number column produces a calculated result (Total, Average or Standard Deviation) from a source column. Text, date, options and checkbox columns hold one shared value — no calculation.
Two grouping types: calculated (number columns) and shared-value (text / date / options / checkbox).
Grouping is enabled per column in the template — nothing is grouped until the filler groups rows while filling.
