What is RFI (Request for Inspection)?

Answer

RFI stands for Request For Inspection. In digiQC, it's the step where the person who did the work (the contractor / maker) formally requests an inspection — telling the checker (the PMC or QC engineer) that the work is ready to be inspected.

When RFI is turned on for a checklist stage:

• The contractor raises the RFI once the work is ready.

• The checker is notified and then carries out the inspection against the checklist.

• If an approver is set, the RFI is first reviewed (accepted or rejected) before the inspection begins.

This keeps a clear record of who requested the inspection and when, so work is only checked once it's actually ready.

Good to know

• RFI can run with or without an approver.

• On a Fail / Redo / Reject, a new RFI (Re-RFI) can be raised for the same stage.

• RFI numbers can be auto-generated (RFI Number Configurator).
