Re-inspection is when an inspection has to be done again — because a checkpoint Failed or an approver sent it back for Redo. In both cases the work is corrected and re-checked.
The two triggers are different:
Fail — happens during the inspection: a checkpoint did not meet the requirement, so the failed work must be corrected and re-inspected.
Redo — happens at approval: the approver sends the inspection back (instead of approving), so the inspector redoes it.
On re-inspection, if RFI is on, a new RFI (Re-RFI) is raised for the same stage.
The inspection re-runs so the corrected work can pass.
