# 2.5.30 How to rename an inspection or Issue?

A Project Admin can rename an inspection or an Issue from the project on the web app — via the pencil icon in the inspection or Issue tab. A Passed inspection or a Closed Issue can't be renamed. inspection renames keep an audit trail (old/new name, changed by, date).

### Overview

A **Project Admin** can **rename an inspection or an Issue** from the project on the web app — as long as it isn't already completed. A **Passed inspection** and a **Closed Issue** can't be renamed.

### 🧭 How to use

### Rename an inspection

1.  Go to the **Projects** tab → **Inspect tab**.
    
2.  Click the **pencil icon** next to the inspection.
    
3.  Enter the **new name** → **Save.**
    

\- You **can't rename an inspection whose status is Passed.** - To see the history: open the inspection → click the **info icon** beside the name → a pop-up shows **Old Name, New Name, Changed by, and Date.**

### Rename an Issue

1.  Go to the **Projects** tab → **Issue** tab.
    
2.  Click the **pencil icon** → the **Rename Issue** box appears.
    
3.  Enter the **new name** → **Save.** You'll see **"Name updated successfully."**
    

\- You **can't rename an Issue whose status is Closed.**
