# 2.2.12 How to discard an inspection in Paused tab?

A paused inspection is an in-progress inspection you stepped away from (tapped Back, added a reason). To discard one you no longer need, open the Paused tab, tap the down arrow at the top-right of the card, tap Discard and confirm. A first/only-stage inspection is removed permanently; one with a further stage returns to Available.

### Overview

A **paused inspection** is an inspection you **started but stepped away from** — you were mid-way through a checklist stage and had other work, or needed to pause for a **minor correction**, so you tapped **Back** and it moved to the **Paused** tab. If you **no longer need** a paused inspection (started by mistake or not required), you can **discard** it.

### 🧭 How to use

1. Open Inspect on the mobile app and switch to the **Paused** tab.

2. Find the inspection you want to discard and tap the **down arrow (▾)** at the **top-right corner of its card.**

3. The **Discard** button appears — **tap Discard.**

4. **Confirm** by tapping **Yes.**

### ❓ FAQ

#### 1\. What is a paused inspection?

An inspection that was **started but not finished.** While inspecting a checklist stage, if the Checker has **other work in between** or needs to pause for a **minor correction**, they tap **Back** and the inspection is **paused** — it waits in the **Paused** tab until it's resumed or discarded.

#### 2\. How does an inspection get paused?

While inspecting, tap **Back.** You're asked to **add a reason** — **Process Requirement**, **Improvement**, or **Other.** If you choose **Other**, you can **type your own reason.** The inspection then moves to the **Paused** tab.

#### 3\. When should I discard an inspection?

When a **paused inspection is no longer needed** — it was **started in error** or is **no longer required.**

#### 4\. What happens to the inspection after I discard it?

It depends on its stages:

- If the inspection's checklist **has a subsequent stage**, it **moves back to the Available tab.**

- If it has **no further stages**, or was **started for the first time**, the inspection is **removed permanently.**

#### 5\. Can I get back an inspection that was removed permanently?

No. If it had **no further stages** or was **started for the first time**, discarding **removes it permanently** — it cannot be recovered.
