Overview
An RFI (Request for Inspection) is raised by the maker/contractor to ask that an inspection be carried out. The RFI and the inspection are two separate stages. First the approver reviews the RFI and accepts or rejects it; once the RFI stage is completed, the inspection stage can be started — by a user who is assigned that checklist.
The user who does the inspection sets the inspection team; the user who did the RFI sets the RFI team. After that, each stage type stays with its team.
🧭 How to use
RFI review (approver):
The maker/contractor raises the RFI. The approver receives a notification.
The approver taps the notification and reviews the RFI.
To accept: if all required information is provided, the approver accepts the RFI.
To reject: the approver adds at least one comment about the missing information, then taps Reject. The maker then adds the required information and seeks acceptance again.
Starting the inspection (after the RFI stage):
Once the RFI stage is completed (the RFI is accepted), the inspection stage can be started.
The inspection stage can be started only by a user who is assigned that checklist — that user's action sets the inspection team for the EQC.
Likewise, the RFI is done by a user assigned the RFI, which sets the RFI team.
From then on, each stage type stays with its team — it is continued *only by users who are in that team and assigned* (the checklist for the inspection, the RFI for the RFI stage).
A user who is not assigned the checklist — including someone who only raised or handled the RFI — cannot start the inspection stage.
❓ FAQ
1. Who can start the next (inspection) stage?
Only a user who is assigned that checklist, and who is in the inspection team. The first inspection action sets the inspection team; after that, any assigned user in that team can continue (see 2.2.19).
2. Who sets the inspection team and the RFI team?
The user who does the inspection sets the inspection team; the user who does the RFI sets the RFI team. The two are separate.
3. I raised the RFI — can I also do the inspection?
Only if you are also assigned the checklist. Doing the RFI sets the RFI team, not the inspection team, so RFI alone doesn't let you do the inspection.
4. When can the inspection stage be started?
Only once the RFI stage is completed — after the approver has accepted the RFI.
5. What happens if the approver rejects the RFI?
The approver adds at least one comment on what's missing, and the maker adds the required information and seeks acceptance again.
