2.5.24 Manage nomenclature zones

Overview

Once your nomenclature is built, you can reshape and maintain it on the web app — move zones in or out, duplicate a structure, add points, and disable/enable/delete zones. Most of these work even after it's live. Go to Projects tab → Select Project → Nomenclature tab.

🧭 How to use

Indent — make something a sub-zone

Nest items under a parent (a deeper zone). Example: to put Reinforcement and Shuttering under RCC — drag them below RCC, select both, and click Indent.

Outdent — move something up a zone

Move an item up the hierarchy. Example: if Tower E is under Zone 2 but should be Zone 1 — select it and click Outdent.

Duplicate — copy a structure

Replicate an existing zone/structure instead of rebuilding it. Example: copy Building A's full hierarchy for Building B, then make minor changes — saves time and keeps it consistent.

Add points to a zone — single or in bulk

• Single: find the zone and click the + button next to it.

• Bulk (Add Multiple): click Add Multiple to add many at once — you can copy-paste from an existing spreadsheet. Put each zone or sub-zone on a separate line.

Disable — hide a zone from mobile

Temporarily stop mobile users seeing a zone (e.g. work not needed yet). Select the zone and click Disable. You can Enable it again later.

Enable — bring a disabled zone back

Select a disabled zone and click Enable — mobile users can use it again when adding nomenclature.

Delete — remove a zone

Remove an unwanted zone. Note: a zone/location already used (in an inspection, issue or register) can't be Deleted — only Disabled. Only unused zones can be Deleted.

❓ FAQ

1. What's the difference between Indent and Outdent?

Indent nests an item deeper (under a parent, into a lower zone); Outdent moves it up a zone.

2. How do I reuse a structure across buildings?

Use Duplicate to copy a zone/hierarchy, then adjust it — no need to rebuild.

3. How do I add one item vs. many at once?

One: click the + button next to the zone. Many: click Add Multiple and copy-paste from a spreadsheet, with each zone or sub-zone on a separate line.

What's the difference between Disable and Delete?

Disable hides a zone from mobile users (reversible with Enable); Delete removes it. A zone that's already used can only be Disabled, not Deleted.

Why can't I delete a zone?

Because it's already used (in an inspection/issue/register). Disable it instead.

Can I do this after the nomenclature is live?

Yes — indent, outdent, disable, enable, and delete (unused) are done manually, even after it's live.

Who can manage the nomenclature?

The System Admin or Project Admin, on the web app.
