2.4.8 Important fields in a register — EQC Link, Attachment & Calculation

Three special register-template fields: EQC Link (Detail section, links to passed/in-progress project inspections, multi-select, opens only if the user has inspection access, shows in log detail & report), Attachment (Detail & Table, up to 3 photos/PDFs, extras skipped), and Calculation (Detail & Table, auto-calculates; Numeric/Date/Time tabs with formula, operators & functions).

Overview

When you build a register template, three special fields give a register extra power — an EQC Link field that links entries to inspections, an Attachment field for photos/PDFs, and a Calculation field that works out results automatically. All three are added while creating the template (see 2.4.2).

🔗 EQC Link field

  • Added in the Detail section of the register template.

  • Once added, it lists all the project's inspections — both passed and in-progress — and the person preparing the log can select the relevant one(s). Multiple selection is allowed.

  • This directly links the register to the inspection. A user can click the link to open the inspection.

  • A user can open the inspection only if they have access to that inspection — otherwise the link will not open.

  • The link appears on the register log detail page and in the report.

📎 Attachment field

  • Available in both the Detail section and the Table section.

  • Once set in the template, the person preparing the log can add up to 3 attachments per field — each a photo or a PDF.

  • If more than 3 are selected in one go, only the first 3 are kept and the rest are skipped.

  • The limit counts what's already there: if 1 is already attached and you then select 5, only 2 more are added (to reach 3) and the other 3 are skipped.

🧮 Calculation field

  • Available in both the Detail section and the Table section.

  • It auto-calculates the result — the person preparing the log doesn't have to do anything.

  • Build the formula on one of three tabs:

Numeric — write a Formula (example: `'field1' + 'field2'`), using your Numeric Fields, Operators* ( + − / ( ) ^ ), and Mathematical Functions — **Average, Median, Standard Deviation

Date — write a Formula (example: daysBetween('startDate', 'endDate')), using your Date Fields and Date Functions — Days Between, Add Days, Subtract Days. (Add the required date fields first.)

Time — write a Formula (example: `timeSubtraction('startTime', 'endTime')`), using your Time Fields and the Time Function — Time Subtraction.

Then Save.

❓ FAQ

Where are these fields added? While creating the register template (2.4.2). The EQC Link field goes in the Detail section; Attachment and Calculation can go in the Detail or the Table section.

Which inspections can I link? All of the project's inspections — both passed and in-progress, and you can select more than one.

Can everyone open the linked inspection? Only users who have access to that inspection can open it — for anyone else the link will not open.

Where does the inspection link show? On the register log detail page and in the report.

How many attachments can I add? Up to 3 per field (photo or PDF). Files beyond 3 are skipped, counting any already attached.

Do I have to work out calculation fields myself? No — a Calculation field auto-calculates as the log is prepared.

What can a calculation use? Numeric (operators + Average/Median/Std), Date (Days Between / Add Days / Subtract Days), or Time (Time Subtraction).

💡 Good to know

  • The EQC Link field turns a register into a live link to your inspections (cube tests, material tests, etc.), opening only for users who have access to that inspection.

  • Attachment fields accept photos and PDFs, max 3 each.

  • Calculation fields update on their own, so totals and durations always match the data.
